Our Veterinary Team

We are here to help you understand every aspect of your pet’s health. We are a dedicated group of professional that love our job and truly care for your furry friends. The Woodbine Animal Clinic team is here to help keep your pets healthy and happy.

Dr. Littlejohn

Dr. Littlejohn graduated from the Ontario College of Veterinarians in 1972, and established the Woodbine Animal Clinic in 1978. As well as owning the Woodbine Animal Clinic he was also a founding member of the Toronto Veterinary Emergency Clinic.  Admired by the staff and clients of WAC for his passion, care and concern for animals and their health, more than 30 years later he still set’s an example for those around him.

He can often be found participating in marathons and enjoys a challenge such as climbing mount Kilimanjaro.  He is also an avid gardener and finds peace caring for his menagerie of pets including 3 dogs, a cat, a parakeet, a couple of horses and a flock of chickens!

Dr. Woods

Dr. Woods has been with Woodbine Animal Clinic since 2008. Born and raised in Toronto, she received her degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2002.  Dr. Woods had wanted to be a veterinarian since childhood and loves coming to work each and every day, with a particular interest in dermatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Woods is kept very busy when away from the clinic with her husband, two young boys and two dogs.  She likes to travel when she can and when given the opportunity to have some quiet time, she can be found either gardening or knitting.

Dr Scott

Dr. Scott

Dr. Scott attained a B.Sc. from McGill University, and went on to the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, PEI for her veterinary training. She had practiced in Halifax for 5 years before moving to Toronto with her husband, and settling into her career.  In addition to keeping very busy with her two school-age children, she has a furry family of two cats and a yellow lab who loves the happy chaos.

When not at work, she can be spotted running never-ending errands in the neighbourhood, or like many of us, pulling her dog away from eating something on the ground.

Valerie – Practice Manager

Valerie started her career in Veterinary Medicine many years ago, after taking a part time position as a kennel assistant while still in high school. In 2005 she decided to return to school and in 2010 she joined our team as a Registered Veterinary Technician. It wasn’t long after her arrival that she began taking on some managerial tasks. After balancing her rolls as both technician and manager for a couple of years she decided to leave WAC to try her hand in Animal Health Sales. She has now returned to Woodbine as the clinics full time practice manager, with a whole new set of skills and abilities.

Valerie has a dog named Chase who can often be found lurking around the clinic. We say lurk because Chase is curious but shy, she will often sneak up on a client standing at the desk to get a hidden sniff or two.   Valerie enjoys crafting of all kinds as well as finding new hiking paths in and around the city.

Beth – Registered Veterinary Technician

Beth has been brought onto the team as a Registered Veterinary Technician, with the addition of Beth came her dog Ollie.  Ollie has quickly become the clinics treat ambassador, making sure that no kind of treat goes without taste testing before being served to our patients.   Beth was born is Saskatoon but moved to Toronto in 2004 once she completed her schooling at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

Aside from her dog Ollie (whom you most likely have met), she is currently fostering a cat who is full of attitude!  Along with hanging out with her furry companions at home, Beth also enjoys being active outdoors.  Running, cycling and swimming are among her favorites.  Her ultimate favorite activity has been exploring and hiking with Ollie through the different provincial parks in Ontario.

Marjorie – Veterinary Technician

Marjorie came to become a member of the Woodbine Team in 2009. As a second year tech student, she started in the position of reception. Upon her graduation from Seneca College, she began working “in the back” as a technician, and has been a key member of the team since.  Her upbeat and happy personality are appreciated by her teammates and clients alike.

Marjorie considers herself a bit of a foodie and is known for spending her time exploring what the city has to offer in the way of new restaurants.  She has re-directed this interest into baking and decorating beautiful cakes for friends and family.  She also enjoys spending time with her bulldog Tyson.

Reem – Client Care Representative

Reem came to us looking for a different experience in veterinary medicine. She had previously worked at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic downtown and wanted to find out what it would be like, to work in a place where she would have the opportunity to be able to see a pet through all of their life stages, not just in an emergency.  She has enjoyed getting to know the many different faces that enter through the doors of WAC, both furry and human!

Reem grew up in Etobicoke but decided to move to the East End and has been enjoying all that it has to offer. She loves animals of all kinds, including snakes, but her favourite has to be her dog Milton, the fastest little Brussels Griffon in the east.

Katherine

Katherine – Veterinary Assistant

Originally from Newfoundland, Katherine has lived all across Canada but is happy to have settled in Toronto and specifically in the dynamic Woodbine-Danforth neighbourhood. Since coming to Toronto she has built a life that combines her many interests but centres around her love of animals. She splits her time between working as a veterinary assistant and drawing up a storm as an artist whose focus is dogs, both real and “imaginary”.

When she’s not working or drawing she can be found exploring the city and the province – always on the lookout for beautiful outdoor places, fun events and animal-related field trips.

Vanessa – Veterinary Assistant

Born and raised in East York, Vanessa considers herself a true “East Yorker” and has felt very at home here as part of the WAC team.  She spent many years working in the health food industry and although she enjoyed her work she never felt truly satisfied.  When the opportunity to work with our team arose, she didn’t hesitate to make a change following her passion for helping animals.

Vanessa has a particular interest in animal behavior and enjoys watching how her 3 cats Palmer, Medley and Nancy interact with one another.  She can often be found in the kitchen baking (which the staff is grateful for) or playing with her niece in the local park.

Elizabeth (Liz) – Veterinary Assistant

Liz has been with our team since the summer of 2016. She started as an occasional weekend student and worked a semester with us as a co-op student. Since completing high school, she has continued to work with us on a more regular basis. She is considering returning to school to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine and has been very eager to learn as much as she can about the profession during her time with us.
She has a cat named Mittens and a snake name Artemis and while not with them, can be found reading or spending time outdoors.
